Galaxy in Flames

I’m now fully invested in the Horus Heresy. The trio of opening novels all service each other in fine form, and reward the attentive reader—or, as in my case, listener.

The descriptions of destruction, battlefield carnage, and various solo combats are well wrought by the author Ben Counter. While I could see a lot of the plot coming, there were enough surprises and character development to keep me interested.

I only recently learned that this sprawling narrative has yet to reach a published close, but Dan Abnett has finished writing the massive two-part conclusion and it’s being polished for press. There’s a lot of comfort in knowing that this epic tale will reach conclusion, unlike some other high profile literary series I could mention.
