I found this slim volume in my mother’s bookshelf the last time my wife and I were down to visit. It then sat on our bookshelf for half a decade before I happened to idly glance at it in early 2022 and decide it was time to not only read it, but more books in general. This book, despite its subject matter or my own motivation for reading, represents my return to wide and regular consumption of the written word, particularly in physical form.
As for the book itself, despite its inconclusive analysis, it got me thinking about what life was like for the Indigenous people of North America. I would love to know the truth about how the various tribes and nations treated each other, both before and after colonization. If even a small part of this text is true, there was a great deal of savagery going on.
