Metamorphoses

The gods of ancient myth were a bunch of dicks. I picked this book up after reading Crime and Punishment and read the entire prose translation before realizing it was originally an epic poem. I think someday I should like to read it in its poetic form. As a collection of stories, it's remarkably graphic and easy to follow, despite moments of rather extreme listing of character names. I also feel like having concurrently read more than half of the The Greek Myths: The Complete and Definitive Edition really helped in digesting and understanding the nature of the foundational material.

It took me almost four months to get into the text, but I was able to give it the attention it deserved in a little under three weeks, reading one of the fifteen books per day.
